Lexington Student Work Exhibited in Albany as Part of MLK Celebration

Lexington students were recognized by the New York State Executive Chamber for participating in the of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Fine Arts and Essay Display during the 2019 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Memorial Observance. The exhibit is sponsored by the New York State Education Department. Students were encouraged to submit artwork or essays that reflected Dr. King's Six Principles and Six Steps of Nonviolence. The Lexington students' work was exhibited on the Concourse level of the Empire State Plaza in the state capitol. To see the students' work, click on the link below.

Academic Bowl Team Heading to National Tournament

High fives to Lexington’s Academic Bowl team for achieving fourth place at the Eastern qualifier at Western PA School for the Deaf this past weekend. The Lexington team, comprised of Elghin Hebrado, Edgar Martinez, Ahsanur Rashid and Gigi Zheng, secured a spot at the national championships at Gallaudet University in April. The team, coached by Christian Anazagasti and Wade Phillips, also received the Sportsmanship Award and Ahsanur Rashid was named to the All-Star Team. This will be the team’s first trip to Nationals and we are so proud of them!

Dynamic Five Robotic Team Wins Third Place

Lexington's Dynamic Five First Lego League (FLL) robotics team received a third place award for robot design at the NYCFIRST qualifier on January 26th at IS 129. Congratulations to Alex, Jordana, Ragu & Sal! Your coaches, Mrs. Knower and Mrs. Casson, are very proud of you!

Multicultural Festival Week - February 4-8

We will be celebrating the many cultures that are represented by members of our Lexington family. Events include opening and closing ceremonies, a multicultural mural, a multicultural quilt and a cultural fair. Parents are invited to attend a special multicultural food tasting in the cafeteria from 11:30 to 1:05 on Thursday, February 7th. On February 8, students are encouraged to wear colors or clothing that represents their culture.

Drama Club Actors Shine in "A Christmas Carol"

On December 13 and 14, the Drama Club delivered a stellar performance of "A Christmas Carol" to the Lexington family. All of the students did a great job! Special thanks to all of the staff who volunteered their time and talents to make the show a success!

Signing Santa visited Lexington on December 21. Preschool and elementary students received presents and middle and high school students had a pizza lunch. Thanks to the WP Owners Co-op for sponsoring this annual holiday event!

Smart Schools Investment Plan - Opportunity for Comment & Open Forum (Tuesday, October 23rd - 6:30 - 7:30 pm)

Lexington School for the Deaf is eligible for $85,066 in grant funds through the New York State Smart Schools Investment Plan. Lexington is proposing to use the funds to purchase 20 interactive, flat panel SMART boards. Parents, teachers, community members and other stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on the plan, which will be posted on this website for 30 days. Stakeholders are invited to attend a public forum on Tuesday, October 23rd from 6:30 - 7:30 pm to provide feedback on the plan. Written comments on the plan should be mailed to: Donald A.
